On December 10th, United Neighbors of the 35th Ward members screened several candidates for various political offices. Our members asked each candidate tough, practical questions and had a lively discussion before voting on our final endorsements.
We are excited to announce that UN35 endorsed Will Guzzardi for State Representative of the 39th District, and Kim Foxx for Cook County State’s Attorney. They join Carlos Ramirez-Rosa for Democratic Committeeman on our slate of progressive candidates for the primary on March 15, 2016.
These past few months have highlighted that our communities–working folks, people of color, women and people in deep poverty–will continue to be ignored and killed at the hands of racist, sexist and classist policies driven by corporate democrats and the 1% of wealthy Americans who fund their campaigns.
That is why UN35 is excited about Kim Foxx; she reflects OUR values and understands what it will take to make our communities safer while being accountable to the residents of Cook County. Kim Foxx is a veteran prosecutor with the experience needed to restore trust in the State’s Attorney’s office, and she is the only candidate with the unique life experiences needed to make Cook County’s criminal injustice system fair for everyone.
