Participatory budgeting voting to begin October 17

Participatory Budgeting Voting

October 17-29

35th Ward office, 2708 N. Sawyer Ave., Chicago and other locations

Throughout September, there a block-by-block inspection of the entire 35th Ward to identify problems with streets, sidewalks, alleys, pedestrian crossings and other small-scale city-controlled infrastructure. Following those inspections, a committee selected a list of projects to be voted on by residents of the 35th Ward for final consideration.

All residents of the 35th Ward ages 14 and older (please provide proof of age and residency) are eligible to vote at various locations across the ward October 17-29. The top three projects will be forwarded to Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa for implementation through the $1 million made available to him each year through Chicago’s city budgeting process.

Voting will take place October 17-21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Alderman Ramirez-Rosa’s office, 2708 N. Sawyer Ave. in Logan Square. The voting will then move to the following locations on the dates and times listed:

  • October 22-24: La Farine Bakery, 2909 N. Milwaukee Ave., 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • October 22: Crown Liquors, 2821 N. Milwaukee Ave., 6-8 p.m.
  • October 23: Independence Park Farmer’s Market, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • October 26: Nixon Elementary School, 2121 North Keeler Ave., 7-9 a.m.
  • October 26: Rojo Gusano, 3830 W. Lawrence Ave., 4-8 p.m.

While UN35 has no official role in the Participatory Budgeting process, we encourage all of our members to vote and become involved with this effort.
